Pakistan high commissioner calls on home minister, discusses expansion of bilateral cooperation

DHAKA, March 1, 2026 (BSS) - Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat today.
 
During the meeting, the two sides engaged in cordial and constructive discussions on a broad range of issues of mutual interest, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. 

Key areas prominently came up in the discussion that include cooperation in safe city initiatives and database registration systems, counter-terrorism efforts, and enhanced collaboration between the police academies of Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The discussions also covered the exchange of criminals or prisoners, potential cooperation in the drone sector, and broader regional developments, alongside overall bilateral relations between the two countries.

At the outset, the Home Minister welcomed the High Commissioner and expressed optimism about further strengthening the longstanding ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

In response, the High Commissioner congratulated the Home Minister on assuming his new responsibilities and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening engagement and cooperation with Bangladesh.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their shared resolve to work closely on areas of common interest and to further advance bilateral relations.
