DHAKA, Mar 1, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today expressed deep condolences over the death of Huron Nahar Rashid, mother of Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita.

Huron Nahar Rashid passed away this morning while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the city. She was 83.

In a condolence message, Fakhrul said, "As an ideal woman, the late Huron Nahar Rashid always encouraged and inspired her politically active husband and children in good deeds and political activities. She was a pious woman. I fervently pray that the Almighty grants the family the fortitude to bear this profound grief."

The BNP Secretary General also prayed for the forgiveness of her departed soul and extended condolences to the bereaved family and well-wishers.
