TANGAIL, Feb 28, 2026 (BSS) - Posts, Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam today said the government will create employment for one million people in the promising ICT sector.

He made the remark while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a 700-metre road construction at Sathi Mor, Madhupur, Tangail this afternoon.

Anam, also the Science and Technology Minister, said that since the formation of the government under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, efforts have been underway from day one to bring development and services to the doorstep of the people.

He added that, in line with the BNP government's election promises, initiatives such as Family Cards, Farmer Cards and canal-digging programmes have already been implemented.

Anam further said steps have been taken to attract foreign investment to hi-tech parks.

"I want to keep Madhupur-Dhanbari residents safe and peaceful. I want to build it into a secure town. As part of the election commitments, no extortion or criminal activities will be tolerated in my constituency. We want to ensure development reaches the people's doorstep," he said.

Madhupur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Zubair Hossain, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Naim Uddin Ahmed, Upazila Engineer Md. Rafiqul Islam Bhuiya, Agriculture Officer Rakib Al Rana and Madhupur Upazila BNP President Md Zakir Hossain were also present.
