Salahuddin calls for unity, make JS centre of discussion

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2026 (BSS)- Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed today called upon all political parties, including the National Citizen Party (NCP) to remain united in the greater interest of the nation despite differences of opinion and make parliament the main forum for discussion.

“We might have differences of opinions. But we have to remain united in the interest of the nation. We have to make the parliament the centre of discussions,” he said at an iftar party marking the first founding anniversary of the NCP at Abahani Club in Dhanmondi in the capital.

Emphasizing democratic values, Salahuddin said constructive dialogue in parliament is essential for strengthening institutions and ensuring national progress. 

He urged political leaders to prioritize the public interests above partisan politics.

The Home Minister said they will collectively do the politics for shaping the present and future with not sticking only in the past. 

Ahmed welcomed the NCP for representation in the parliament with six members, saying the party may form government in future if they uphold the public expatiations and change their strategy in future.

He advised the NCP to accept ups and downs in politics to survive in the long run, reminding them there are many political parties which now remained only on signboards.

The Home Adviser said politics is not a static matter, adding, “Everyone has to adjust with the time passage. The declaration and organogram of the political parties should be changed with the time.”

“They who stand in a same place, cannot survive,” he opined saying participation of the NCP in the politics will shine the politics. 

“The participation of young people in politics will make us more respectful,” he said, adding that the NCP will take forward the country ahead with respecting the demand of the young folk.
