RAJSHAHI, Feb 28, 2026 (BSS) - Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu today said that Rajshahi will be developed through the combined efforts of all, in line with the expectations of the people.

He stated that the development plan would be undertaken by involving the people as well as the four elected Members of Parliament from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

He also warned that appropriate legal action would be taken against anyone who obstructs the return to a peaceful environment, ensuring stability through due process.

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a greeting exchange event organized by the Rajshahi Citizens Committee at a community center in Saheb Bazar of Rajshahi this afternoon.

The minister further said that around 16 institutions are affiliated with his ministry. He expressed his commitment, as a son of the soil, to coordinate all these institutions and work for the development of Rajshahi and the country as a whole.

Land Minister Minu also mentioned plans to develop Rajshahi city into a beautiful and well-planned urban center.

He noted that during the BNP tenure, gas lines were installed and launched in Rajshahi, and assured that gas connections would be restored again. He added that there are plans to revive sick industrial enterprises in the region.

The minister said that silk is a promising industry in Rajshahi. Measures will be taken to promote this sector, and discussions will be held with foreign investors to establish an Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Rajshahi.

He also assured that the BNP would implement the 31-point outline announced by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to ensure nationwide development, and that Rajshahi's development would be carried out in line with that framework.

Minu pledged to visit Rajshahi every week and engage directly with the people.

 "Together, we will move the country forward," he said, adding that special emphasis would be placed on advancing computer technology and fully utilizing the IT sector to create employment opportunities and build a skilled youth population in Rajshahi.

He said the Prime Minister has instructed all to carry out their duties with honesty. 

Addressing party leaders and activists, he said he is human and may make mistakes while working. He urged them to point out any errors, noting that those who correct his mistakes are his true friends.

Speaking as a special guest, Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, expressed agreement with the other speakers and placed two demands before the Land Minister: the establishment of a full-fledged agricultural university in Rajshahi and the setting up of an EPZ.

Earlier, leaders of the Rajshahi Citizens Committee offered various suggestions and urged the minister to work for the city's development.

The meeting was chaired by Professor M. Rafiqul Islam, convener of the Rajshahi Citizens Committee.

Among others who spoke were former convener of Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, President of Rajshahi Bar Association Advocate Abul Kashem, Dr. Wasim Hossain and Professor Dr. Fowzia. The event was moderated by Professor Akhtar Hossain, Member Secretary of the Rajshahi Citizens Committee.
