JHENAIDAH, Feb 28, 2026 (BSS) - Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md. Asaduzzaman today said the government is firmly committed to try the fascists through due legal process.
He made the remarks while responding to various questions from the journalists after a civic reception at Shailakupa Degree College ground here.
Representatives of different political parties, social, voluntary and professional organizations along with people from all walks of life of Shailkupa and Jhenaidah sadar attended the event.
Speaking at the reception, the minister said the law would be applied in its own course. "If anyone attempts to fish in troubled waters or create unrest, we will strictly enforce the law," he said.
Referring to allegations of fertilizer black marketing in Shaailkupa, he said there had been a bad reputation regarding fertilizer in the area, but no black marketing would be tolerated in future. "Stern action will be taken against those involved in fertilizer black marketing," he added.
Talking to media personnel, the minister reiterated that the government is firmly committed to ensuring trials of fascists in accordance with the law. "Fascists were ousted through a tide of bloodshed and Bangladesh is now on the highway of democratic progress," he said.
He said that he had instructed officials to ensure that every penny of government allocations meant for the people is spent properly and in the right place. "If anyone resorts to corruption, there will not only be departmental action but also legal cases," he warned, adding that the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse.
The minister said law enforcement agencies have been directed to take action neutrally against terrorism, social unrest and violence, as the government's image cannot be tarnished by a handful of unscrupulous individuals.
He also said that while he serves as a minister for the entire country, it is his responsibility to bring his relatively neglected home district of Jhenaidah to a level playing field in terms of development.
Responding to a question about bail, he said it is a matter for the courts. "No criminal will be spared," he added.
