DHAKA, Feb 27, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Finance and Planning Zonayed Saki today arrived safely in Bancharampur, Brahmanbaria, with officials clarifying that a morning police vehicle accident in the area was entirely unrelated to his official protocol.
According to a Finance Ministry press release, a police vehicle traveling from Brahmanbaria Sadar toward Bancharampur lost control and overturned in the Velanagar area of Saifullahkandi Union at approximately 7:40 am.
The accident resulted in casualties involving eight police personnel.
Clarifying the timeline, the ministry stated that the accident occurred nearly five hours before the State Minister entered the upazila.
State Minister Zonayed Saki arrived in Bancharampur at 12:30pm, traveling a route from Narayanganj through Araihazar and the Bishnandi Ferry Ghat.
This geographical and chronological distinction confirms that the vehicle involved in the morning tragedy was not part of the Minister's motorcade and the incident was entirely separate from his protocol.
Following the Jummah prayer, Zonayed Saki visited the Upazila Health Complex to check on the condition of the casualties.
During his visit, the Minister spoke with the victims and medical staff, issuing firm directives to hospital management and relevant authorities to ensure that all injured personnel receive proper and high-quality medical treatment.
The ministry has formally dismissed any reports or rumors linking the accident to the State Minister's official movements.
Based on the documented timing and the separate routes taken, the ministry reiterated that the State Minister arrived safely and without any involvement in the earlier road accident.
