EIIN of 158 educational institutions temporarily suspended

DHAKA, Feb 27, 2026 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Bureau of Education Information and Statistics (BANBEIS) has temporarily suspended the Educational Institution Identification Numbers (EIINs) of 158 educational institutions in the country for not providing the required information in the Annual Educational Institution Survey 2025.

The decision was informed through a letter signed by BANBEIS Director Professor Md Golam Firoz.

The letter sent to the Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) stated that the Annual Education Survey 2025 has been extended from October 20 to November 30. This action has been taken against all institutions that failed to upload the data within this period.

It said that through field investigations and telephonic communication, it has been revealed that many of the institutions on the list have closed their academic activities, some do not exist, and some institutions are only conducting short courses.

BANBEIS informed the director general of DSHE that this suspension order has been implemented based on the certification and recommendation of the concerned Upazila or Thana Secondary Education Officers and Academic Supervisors.

As a result, the EIINs of these institutions will no longer be valid in the BANBEIS database.

Detailed information of the 158 educational institutions has been sent to the concerned departments (DSHE, Madrasa and Technical Education Departments) for necessary action.
