DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) has requested all candidates who contested in the 13th National Parliamentary Election to submit their election expenditure returns to their respective Returning Officers (ROs).
This information was revealed in a letter signed by Senior Assistant Secretary A.S.M. Iqbal Hasan of the EC Secretariat on Tuesday. The letter has been sent to all Returning Officers across the country.
The letter stated that in accordance with Article 44(c) of the Representation of the People Order (RPO), 1972, all contesting candidates are required to submit their election expenditure returns to the RO within 30 days of the publication of the official gazette containing the names of the elected candidates.
The gazette listing the names and addresses of the elected candidates of the 13th National Parliamentary Election was published on February 13, 2026.
The letter further requested that necessary steps be taken, in line with circular-18 issued for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, to ensure the submission of expenditure statements by the contesting candidates.
Additionally, the ROs have been requested to send the information of the election expenditure returns submitted by the candidates to the EC by March 25, 2026.
