Strict legal action against corruption in tribunal: Chief Prosecutor

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS) - Md Aminul Islam, the newly-appointed Chief 
Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), today said strict 
legal action will be taken if anyone associated with the tribunal is found 
involved in corruption.

He made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists at his 
office this afternoon.

The Chief Prosecutor said, "During my tenure, if I, any prosecutor, or anyone 
associated with the tribunal is involved in corruption, strict legal measures 
will be taken. We will prove that this tribunal is completely corruption-free 
and will ensure justice in line with international standards."

"The tribunal would be run strictly in accordance with the law, with enhanced 
dynamism and transparency," he said, adding that necessary steps will also be 
taken to ensure speedy disposal of cases in line with the aspirations of the 
July Mass Uprising.

The government on February 23 appointed Md Aminul Islam as ICT Chief 
Prosecutor, granting him the status, rank and privileges of the Attorney 
General of Bangladesh.

The Solicitor Wing of the Law and Justice Division issued a gazette 
notification in this regard and also cancelled the appointment of Advocate 
Muhammad Tajul Islam as the ICT Chief Prosecutor.
