RANGPUR, Feb 23, 2026 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu MP has said that gaining people's trust is the main goal of the present government.
“To achieve the goal, the field level officers of the district and police administrations and other departments should perform duties with utmost sincerity to ensure transparency, accountability and people-friendly mindset in providing services to the people,” he said.
He said this to the government officials of Rangpur division in a views-exchange meeting held at the Rangpur Divisional Commissioner's conference room in the city on Monday as the chief guest.
The Rangpur Divisional Commissioner's Office organised the meeting presided over by Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam.
The Disaster Management and Relief Minister said that Rangpur division has been facing various challenges for a long time.
“We have to work together to alleviate poverty in this region, create employment, develop infrastructure, increase agricultural production, and improve the quality of education and healthcare,” he said.
He said that the district administration is the main driving force in implementing the government's development programmes at the field levels.
Similarly, the effective role of the police administration in maintaining law and order ensures the safety of the people.
“Therefore, I urge everyone to fulfill your responsibilities with utmost sincerity to ensure transparency, accountability, and people-friendly administration. Everyone's dedication, honesty, and sincerity can make this initiative successful,” he said.
He said coordinated initiatives must be taken to maintain law and order, prevent corruption, suppress social crimes, control drugs, protect women and children, and manage disasters.
The Minister expressed the hope that with joint efforts of all concerned, Rangpur division will move further on the path of development and progress and the government's development programmes will be successfully implemented across the division.
The Disaster Management and Relief Minister urged the officials to dedicate themselves to the welfare of the country and its people.
The Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police and divisional and district level head of the government departments, organisations and institutions and high officials from all eight districts of Rangpur division were present at the event.
After attending the meeting, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, MP, told local journalists that being a people-friendly political party, the BNP government is a people-friendly government.
The government will implement the people's demands on a priority basis within a short time.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who came to Rangpur a few days before the 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election, talked about building industrial factories for employment in the Rangpur region which plays a good role in food production.
“Labor here is cheap and the law and order situation is good. Therefore, like other regions, Rangpur division will also develop at the same rate,” he said.
Regarding the Teesta Master Plan, the Minister said, “I am involved in the Teesta movement. I am a child of the Teesta. The aspirations of two crore people of Rangpur revolve around the Teesta.”
He said, “We have just formed the government. In the meantime, I have spoken to two Ministers of the Ministry of Water Resources in this regard.”
The Minister said the previous interim government had taken up some projects on the Teesta. No more scattered projects will be implemented on the Teesta.
“We will implement Teesta river governance, dredging, and the demands of the people of the Teesta through integrated projects,” he said.
The Disaster Management and Relief Minister said that the officials and employees of the republic will follow government orders.
“In today’s discussion, we have given more importance on controlling the prices of commodities around Ramadan, maintaining normal electricity supply, improving the law and order situation, and eradicating drugs,” he said.
