CHT affairs minister sets 180-day action plan, announces ‘zero tolerance’ on corruption

DHAKA, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS) - Chittagong hill tracts (CHT) affairs minister Dipen Dewan has announced a 180-day action plan to ensure transparency, accountability, and coordinated initiatives to maintain peace and stability in the country’s hill districts.

“The three districts of the Chittagong Hill Tracts are highly sensitive. Although there are many challenges, we will resolve them through dialogue. Our main focus is to move forward through action. Within the next 180 days, we want to see visible changes,” he added.

He was speaking at an exchange meeting with ministry officials at the ministry’s conference room in the Secretariat this afternoon. 

On issues of corruption and land-related crimes, the minister issued a stern warning, saying “No form of corruption will be tolerated in the hill districts. Our stance against corruption and land mafias is ‘zero tolerance’. If necessary, committees will be formed to take legal action.” 

He also announced that the distribution of family cards will begin in Lama, Bandarban, and will gradually be implemented across all sub-districts. 
Speaking as special guest, State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, said, “We are not here merely for formality. Under the guidance of Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, we are committed to working tirelessly for the welfare of the people. Implementing the 180-day plan is our pledge.”

“Through family cards, tree plantation, and an agricultural revolution, we must accelerate national development,” he added. 

CHT affairs ministry Secretary Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said, “Following the election manifesto, we are determined to successfully implement the 180-day programme.”

Senior officials and staff of the ministry were present at the meeting.
