DHAKA, Feb 22, 2026 (BSS) – Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan today said the CHT would be turned into a completely corruption-free region under a zero-tolerance policy.
“I do not want to be the lord of the three hill districts; rather, I want to serve as a servant of the people. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has entrusted me with this responsibility to ensure services for the people of the three hill districts,” he said.
He made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting with the chairman and members of the Khagrachari Hill District Council at the Chattogram Hill Tracts Complex auditorium in the capital.
Dipen Dewan said no community in the CHT would be left behind, adding that participation of all communities would be ensured and equal opportunities provided to all.
The minister instructed the authorities concerned to ensure equitable distribution of resources in the hilly region and to maintain transparency, accountability and sincerity in their work.
He urged people not to pay heed to rumours.
At the beginning of the programme, members of the Khagrachari Hill District Council, led by Chairman Shefalika Tripura, greeted and congratulated the minister with flowers.
They expressed gratitude to the government for appointing Dipen Dewan as minister.
