Tarique Rahman exchanges greetings with PMO officials

DHAKA, Feb 21, 2026 (BSS)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today exchanged greetings with the officials and employees of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) at Tejgaon.

PM’s Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon said, the Prime Minister exchanged greetings with the officials and employees and inquired about their wellbeing.

Tarique Rahman could recognize and called by name several employees who have been working in the PMO since the tenure of Begum Khaleda Zia, Rumon said.

As the Prime Minister arrived at PMO at 10:10 am his Principal Secretary A.B.M. Abdus Sattar and other officials welcomed him.

After taking oath on February 17, Tarique Rahman worked at his Secretariat office on February 18 and 19. Today was his first working day at PMO.

The premier first planted a tree in the PMO premises. Officials and staff greeted him standing in line.
 
At that time Tarique Rahman noticed an employee in the line from a distance and called him by name. The employee immediately crossed the security cordon and rushed to the Prime Minister. They shook hands, and the Prime Minister asked about his family. He also called several other employees by name and spoke with them, Rumon said.

The additional press secretary said those employees were deeply emotional, and other officials and staff were also surprised by the Prime Minister’s generosity and manner of speaking. 

Tarique Rahman unveiled a commemorative postal stamp marking Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.

After that, the Prime Minister attended a meeting with his cabinet colleagues. 

In the 2001 parliamentary elections, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia became Prime Minister with an absolute majority and worked from this office.
