DHAKA, Feb 19, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today joined an Iftar Mahfil organized in honor of orphans in his Dhaka-15 parliamentary constituency.
Speaking at a discussion before the Iftar Mahfil as the chief guest, the Jamaat Ameer said, "We want to develop orphans so that they can play a leading role in nation-building."
Turning to politics, he said no one should be subjected to oppression merely because of their party identity.
"We love this country and its citizens. If anyone becomes a victim of oppression, we will organize protest and resistance," he said.
Dr Shafiqur Rahman said efforts would continue so that the government and the opposition together can ensure people's rights. "We hope the government will do the work that pleases Allah," he added.
Md Selim Uddin, Ameer of the Dhaka Metropolitan North unit of Jamaat, chaired the programme, while Assistant Secretary General Dr Fakhruddin Manik conducted it.
