DHAKA, Feb 19, 2026 (BSS) - Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said the government will continue its stance against using unfair means in examinations to improve the quality of education and build a meritorious nation.
He hoped there would be no need for special drives; rather, adopting unfair means would naturally stop through strengthening morality and study practices among students in the future.
The Education Minister made these remarks at a press conference held at the ministry here.
State Minister for Education Bobby Hajjaj responded to various questions from journalists regarding ongoing activities and reform plans in the education sector.
Regarding the upcoming SSC examination and security issues, the education minister said all necessary preparations have been taken to ensure the smooth, transparent, and uninterrupted completion of the upcoming SSC examination.
Strict instructions have been given to the concerned departments to prevent any kind of irregularities in the question-setting and distribution process, he said.
Referring to the politicization of teachers and their participation in political programmes by boycotting classes, the minister said, "The primary responsibility of teachers is to teach students. Any demands from teachers will be resolved through discussion, but abandoning classes to take to the streets is in no way acceptable."
Stating that the government is giving the highest priority to technical and technology-based education to develop a skilled workforce, the education minister said the existing gap between theoretical and practical education in technical education will be quickly addressed.
The practical component will be increased in polytechnic and technical institutions, and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology will be introduced along with direct linkage to the industrial sector, he said.
Regarding the 180-day roadmap and reforms, the education minister said the government is preparing a 180-day roadmap to bring fundamental changes to the education sector.
Under this plan, the national curriculum will be reviewed and revised, he said adding that there is also a plan to form a high-powered 'Education Commission' in consultation with the prime minister.
At this moment, the government's three immediate priorities are creating a suitable environment to bring students back to classrooms, reviewing and revising the national curriculum and modernizing technical education, he said.
Milon said the government is giving top priority to technical education to build a skilled workforce.
He said as per the electoral pledge, the 'One Teacher One Tab' programme will be gradually implemented for all teachers at the primary and secondary levels.
The minister said monitoring will be strengthened to ensure accountability of MPO-enlisted private educational institutions.
Legal action will be taken against unregistered English-medium schools that have grown indiscriminately and institutions operating with temporary infrastructure, he said adding additionally, payment of long-pending retirement and welfare allowances is among the government's immediate priorities.
The education minister emphasized that no opportunity for corruption will be allowed in the education sector.
The ministry is firmly committed to ensuring ethics and accountability.
