Transport minister asks officials to perform duties maintaining professionalism

DHAKA, Feb 19, 2026 (BSS) – Newly appointed Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Sheikh Rabiul Alam, also in charge of the ministries for Railways and Shipping, urged the officials concerned to discharge their respective assignments with utmost professionalism.

“Everyone should work with honesty and transparency, maintaining discipline and wisdom,” he told the officials and others concerned while visiting the Bridges Division and Bangladesh Railways at Setu Bhaban in Banani here this morning.

State Ministers Habibur Rashid and Md Rajib Ahsan also accompanied the minister during the visit, said a release of the ministry. 

Addressing the officials, the minister said in implementation of every ongoing public welfare-oriented project, the quality of the project should be maintained and completed within the stipulated time.

The minister said the current government is a government of the people, every government institution should work for the sake of the motherland.

“The country is above all . . . we must ensure a sustainable communication system to reduce public sufferings,” he added.

Referring to the upcoming Eid festival, the minister also directed the officials concerned to take necessary measures to ensure a smooth and safe Eid journey.

He also held an important meeting with senior officials of the Bridges Division and Bangladesh Bridges Authority.

The Secretary of the Bridges Division and Executive Director of the Bangladesh Bridges Authority, Mohammad Abdur Rouf, presided over the meeting.

At the very outset of the programme, Bridges Division Secretary presented a power point presentation on the current activities and future plans of the Bridges Division.

Subsequently, the ministers and state ministers were informed about the current activities of the department and the new projects in the pipeline.

The Bridges Secretary said, “We are committed to maintaining transparency in every development activity of the ministry.”

As per the minister’s directives, the entire team will work tirelessly to complete the ongoing projects at the earliest with improved quality service, he added.

Senior officials of the Bridge Division, directors of Bangladesh Bridge Authority, project directors and chief engineers and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Railways Ministry Secretary Md Fahimul Islam paid a courtesy call on them and conveyed his greetings and informed them about the ongoing activities, priority projects and future work plans of the ministry. 

The minister gave instructions to work in a coordinated manner for the development and modernization of railway sector services.
