DHAKA, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS) - Labour and Employment and Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury today said the government's primary mission is to meet the expectations of the people.
"Our mission is only one -- we must work in line with the expectations of the people. We will move forward in accordance with the party manifesto," he said.
The minister made the remarks while addressing an introductory meeting with officials and employees on his first day at the Ministry of Labour and Employment in Dhaka.
Senior officials of the ministry, including Secretary Sarwar Jahan Bhuiyan, welcomed the minister and the state minister at the meeting.
Ariful Haque Choudhury said the ministry would review its activities over the past year to identify strengths and shortcomings. "This country is ours. We need to set clear targets for what we will accomplish in the next 100 days," he said.
He emphasized teamwork in achieving the ministry's goals. The minister also urged officials to remain vigilant to prevent labour unrest, particularly in labour-intensive industries and factories, ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
"We must stay alert and work proactively to ensure stability," he added.
Speaking at the meeting, State Minister M Nurul Huq stressed the importance of preparing a three-month action plan. "We need to set specific goals for the first three months so that we can clearly tell people what we have achieved," he said.
Senior officials from the ministry and its subordinate organizations attended the meeting.
