Transparency, accountability to guide ICT sector’s principles: Faqir Mahbub Anam

DHAKA, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS) - Newly appointed Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Minister of Science and Technology, Faqir Mahbub Anam, today said that transparency and accountability would be the core principles in the country’s ICT sector.

He made the remarks while addressing a reception accorded to him by the ICT Division at its conference room in Agargaon in the capital.

The minister laid utmost emphasis on ensuring transparency and accountability in all activities of the ICT sector. He said professionalism and sincerity of officials are essential for implementing the policies adopted by the government.

Describing ICT as a highly important and promising sector, he said the government has attached priority to expanding ICT services to every upazila and making technological facilities easily accessible to common people across the country, said a press release.

Calling upon officials to perform their duties responsibly from their respective positions, the minister said, “Let us work together.”

He said the new government intends to earn people’s trust through work. Mentioning that the Prime Minister has given the highest priority to work, he added that public expectations would be fulfilled through visible progress and effective initiatives.

Seeking cooperation from officials, Faqir Mahbub Anam said his main goal is to advance the ICT sector in a transparent and dynamic environment under a new vision and policy framework.

Speaking on the occasion, ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury welcomed the minister and said the ICT Division is working as the hub of the country’s digital transformation.

He said the division has been implementing various projects, including formulation of ICT laws and policies, establishment of data centres and hi-tech parks, provision of more than 450 digital services, support for startups and innovation, strengthening of cyber security, and development of skilled manpower.

He expressed the hope that under the minister’s guidance, the division would work collectively to implement government policies ensuring transparency and accountability.

Senior officials of the ICT Division and heads of its different departments and agencies, among others, were present at the function.
