DHAKA, Feb 10, 2026 (BSS) - Education Adviser Professor Dr C R Abrar today expressed his deep gratitude to the committee formed for policy reforms in the education sector and officials concerned who provided support in this regard.
“The committee has successfully completed a complex and multidimensional task within a very short period of just three months,” he said while addressing a dissemination seminar marking the submission of the final report of the Consultation Committee report at the ministry conference room here.
Professor Dr. C. R. Abrar attended the seminar as chief guest while Secondary and Higher Education Division secretary Ms. Rahima Parvin chaired it.
He mentioned that at the outset, there was no strong expectation that such a task could be completed within this timeframe and described this achievement as a source of special joy and pride.
The adviser stated that despite heavy administrative workloads, the committee deeply understood the core problems of the education sector and ensured the engagement with stakeholders at various levels, starting from the grassroots.
He expressed his hope that the issues discussed with the teaching community and other relevant stakeholders would have a positive impact in real-world practice.
Dr. Abrar further said education is not merely a secondary sector; rather, it is a critically important foundation for nation-building.
The primary goal of education should not be limited to making future generations employable, but also to nurturing individuals with human values, empathy, tolerance, ethical integrity and a liberal outlook, he said, adding that in a globally competitive and technology-driven world, there is no alternative to quality education.
Based on today’s discussions, the document will be further enriched and refined, and once a final green signal is received from the stakeholders, it will be published online, he said, adding that provisions will also be made to allow the stakeholders to submit feedback and proposals within a specified timeframe.
The Education Adviser further expressed his hope that in the future, the government and policymakers would develop a strong legal and institutional framework based on this roadmap.
Committee Convener and BRAC University Emeritus Prof. Dr. Manzur Ahmed said that secondary education is not limited to the acquisition of the academic knowledge, it is also a sensitive period for the physical and mental development of adolescents. Therefore, eliminating inequality and improving quality at this level are essential, he remarked.
Other members of the Consultation Committee including Prof. Shahdo Islam, former chairman of the Chattogram Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Associate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahbub Morshed of the Institute of Education and Research of the Dhaka University and member-secretary of the committee Tarfadar Md.
