GAZIPUR, Jan 27, 2027 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today asserted that no corruption took place in the recruitment process of any force under the Home Ministry during his tenure, despite corruption being widely regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most deep-rooted challenges.

He made the remarks while attending the closing parade of the 63rd batch of the Women Prison Guards’ Basic Training Course at the Prison Training Centre in Kashimpur here.

Acknowledging that corruption has permeated nearly every sector of society, the Home Adviser said the recruitment processes of the prison service, police, Ansar and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been kept entirely corruption-free under his advisership.

“Not a single recommendation or request was made by us for anyone’s recruitment in any force,” he said.

Calling it a historic milestone, Chowdhury claimed this was the first time in Bangladesh’s history that recruitment under the Home Ministry had been conducted without corruption.

To verify his claim, he encouraged journalists to speak directly with newly recruited members of the forces. 

“Talk to them yourselves and confirm how they were recruited,” he added.
