GAZIPUR, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) - Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said there is no possibility of disrupting or foiling the forthcoming 13th national election despite provocative speeches by deposed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from India.

“There is no scope to foil or disrupt the national election,” he said while responding to questions from journalists regarding concerns over political instability ahead of the polls.

The adviser made the remarks after attending the closing parade of the 63rd batch of the women prison guards’ basic training course at the parade ground of the Prison Training Centre in Kashimpur, here.

Referring to Sheikh Hasina and her associates, Chowdhury said they are making provocative statements from abroad because they lack the courage to face the law in Bangladesh.

“If they have courage, they should return to the country and give their speeches while taking shelter under the law,” he said.

He further claimed that supporters of the ousted leader have fled the country and taken refuge in different places abroad.

 “Those who are militants and fascists have gone outside the country, and different countries have given them shelter,” he added.

The Home Adviser urged the host countries to send back what he termed militants and fascists to Bangladesh.

Replying to another question, Chowdhury said the bodies of the wife and son of a detained leader of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League were shown to him on humanitarian grounds.
