DHAKA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 40 people within 24 hours during a special drive under Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 conducted by Mugda, Mirpur Model, Rupnagar and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police stations in the capital.

Deputy Police Commissioner, Media and Public Relations Division, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests. 

Mugda Police Station arrested the highest number, detaining 25 individuals on Monday from various crime-prone areas under its jurisdiction. 

Those arrested include Sushil Chandra Shil (30), Ariful Islam Siam (22), Fakhrul Islam (26), Md. Raju (27), Md. Siam Ahmed Sourav (22), Suman, Md. Saiful Islam (24), Md. Russell alias Prince, Md. Ripon (50), Md. Zahidul Islam (27), Sajeeb (26), Md. Shakib (18), Md. Shah Alam (48), Abul Kalam (50), Md. Shaon Sheikh (25), Munruzzaman Monir (24), Md. Monirul Islam (25), Md. Mokhles (22), Md. Hamidul Islam (22), Atiq Hasan (20), Yubaraj Hossain Zubayer (25), Jamil Hossain (23), Mehedi Hasan (22), Md. Jamser Ali and Akshay Kumar Das (28).

Mirpur Model Police Station arrested three individuals, Md. Titu Mia, Md. Minarul Islam and Md. Kashem Miji - during a day-long operation in crime-prone areas.

Rupnagar Police Station arrested nine people, including Shaon (19), Md. Miraj (26), Md. Yasin (25), Md. Billal (29), Md. Nadim Mollah (25), Mirajul Islam Sohan (30), Imdadul (28), Shahidul Hossain (35) and Nurul Haque (38).

Meanwhile, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station arrested three individuals, Md. Shukkur Ali (28), Md. Imran Hossain (27) and Md. Sagar (20)-during a similar drive.

Police said all the arrested individuals were involved in various criminal activities. 

They have been sent to the court for further legal proceedings.
