Prosecution sources said the judgment will be broadcast live on BTV.
The tribunal had set tomorrow for the verdict on December 24, 2025, after the defence concluded its arguments. Earlier, on July 14, 2025, ICT-1 framed charges against eight accused in connection with the killings.
The accused are: former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman, former DMP Joint Commissioner Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, former Additional Deputy Commissioner Shah Alam Mohammad Akhtarul Islam, former Assistant Commissioner of DMP’s Ramna Zone Mohammad Imrul, former Inspector Md Arshad Hossain, constable Md Sujon, constable Imaj Hossain Emon, and constable Nasirul Islam.
The first four accused who are yet to be arrested and are being tried in absentia.
The prosecution opened its case on August 11, 2025. Legal representation for the accused included: Advocate Saddam Hossain Ovy for Inspector Arshad, Barrister Sifat Mahmud for constable Md Sujon, Advocate Shibli Sadekin for constable Imaj Hossain Emon, and Advocate Abul Hasan for constable Nasirul Islam. State-appointed counsel Advocate Md Kutubuddin represented the four fugitive accused.
Earlier, on June 3, the tribunal ordered notices to be published in two national dailies requesting the four fugitive accused to appear. Although published the next day, the accused remained absent, prompting the appointment of state defence counsel.
The prosecution filed the formal charge against all eight accused on May 25, marking the first formal charge filed at the ICT in cases arising from the July–August mass uprising.
The six victims—Shahriar Khan Anas, Sheikh Mahdi Hasan Zunayed, Md Yakub, Md Rakib Hawlader, Md Ismamul Haque, and Manik Miah—were killed in Chankharpul on August 5, 2024.
The tribunal’s investigation agency submitted a 90-page probe report on April 20, 2025.
