National-level final of National Education Week-2026 begins in Dhaka

DHAKA, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - The national-level final competition of “National Education Week-2026” began today at the Government Teachers Training College (TTC) in Dhaka amid colorful arrangements and enthusiastic participation.

Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division (DSHE) of the Ministry of Education Rehana Perven inaugurated the day-long competition as the chief guest. Director General (Additional Charge) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Professor B. M. Abdul Hannan was also present at the opening ceremony.

Assistant Director of the DSHE Training Branch S. M. Saiful Islam confirmed the information to BSS, saying that students who emerged successful through the upazila, district, and divisional rounds are participating in the national finals.

A total of 25 events are being held in the competition, where contestants from different parts of the country are showcasing their talent and creativity. The first, second, and third-place winners will be selected from each event. The activities started at 9:00 am today.

Earlier, DSHE announced through a press release on January 15 that the competition will conclude tomorrow with an award distribution and closing ceremony.

According to Khalid Mahmud, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, the award-giving ceremony will be held at 10:00 am tomorrow at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.

Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar will attend the closing ceremony as the chief guest. DSHE Secretary Rehana Perven will preside over the event, while Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division (TMED) Muhammad Rafiqul Islam will be present as the special guest.

DSHE stated that a national committee along with several sub-committees has been formed to ensure the successful organization of National Education Week-2026. A high-level judging panel comprising experienced educationists and experts has also been constituted to ensure transparency and impartiality.

Education Adviser Professor Dr. C. R. Abrar, DSHE Secretary Rehana Perven, Additional Secretary (Planning) of the Ministry of Education Mahbubul Haque Patwari, and DG (Additional Charge) of DSHE Professor B. M. Abdul Hannan are serving as chief coordinators of the judging panel.
