RANGPUR, Jan 1, 2026 (BSS) - On the first day of the New Year 2026, a total of 20,49,776 new textbooks were distributed to 5,33,742 pre-primary and
primary level students of the 2026 academic year in eight upazilas of Rangpur district on Thursday.
Authorities of the 2,337 primary level government and non-government schools, kindergartens and other institutions in simple ceremonies distributed the
books to students in their respective educational institutions.
The Directorate of Primary Education, District Primary Education Office and Upazila Primary Education Offices extended assistance to the authorities of
the primary level various types of educational institutions to distribute the books smoothly.

Government Primary School premises in Rangpur city in the morning as the chief guest.
Rangpur District Primary Education Officer Md Nazrul Islam presided over the function, participated by the teachers and students of the school, guardians
and local elite.
Addressing the occasion, the chief guest said that necessary preparations were taken to complete distribution of new textbooks among the pre-primary
and primary level students in Rangpur and all other seven districts of Rangpur division today.
"Our officials went to different primary level educational institutions to distribute books and all students would get all the books today," he said.
Talking to BSS at 7 pm, Rangpur District Primary Education Officer Md Nazrul Islam said that a total of 20 lakh 49 thousand 776 new books were distributed
to pre-primary and primary level students in the city and all eight upazilas of Rangpur today.
The distributed books this time also included 4,000 English version books.
Rangpur Sadar upazila is at the top in textbook distribution, where five lakh 55 thousand books have been distributed.
Four lakh six thousand 824 books have been distributed in Mithapukur upazila and two lakh 43 thousand 303 books have been distributed in Pirganj upazila.
In addition, one lakh 98 thousand 900 books have been distributed in Badarganj upazila, one lakh 89 thousand 900 books in Pirgachha upazila and
one lakh 88 thousand 310 books have been handed over to students in Gangachara upazila.
"Besides, one lakh 48 thousand and 932 new books and one lakh 14 thousand and 607 books have been distributed to pre-primary and primary level students in Kawnia and Taraganj upazilas of Rangpur today respectively," Nazrul Islam added.
