TANGAIL, Dec 31, 2025 (BSS) - Former home minister and BNP vice chairman Major General (Retd.) Mahmudul Hasan passed away today at the age of 90.
Mahmudul Hasan, former Member of Parliament (MP) from Tangail-5 constituency, breathed his last at 3 pm at his residence in the capital due to old age complication.
Mahmudul Hasan is survived by his son, daughter, numerous relatives, colleagues, admirers, and well-wishers.
The veteran politician’s passing was confirmed by Mahmudul Haque Sanu, the former member secretary of the district BNP. The namaz-e-janaza of the deceased will be held tomorrow, Thursday, January 1, at Bindubasini Government Boys High School ground in Tangail after the Zohr prayers.
In a statement expressing his condolences, BNP Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Pintu and BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku expressed profound shock at the death of Mahmudul Hasan.
Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said that the late leader was a dedicated social worker and a responsible individual whose contributions to education and social development.
He expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
