DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - Adviser to the Ministries of Shipping and Labour and Employment Brig Gen (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
In a condolence message issued today, the adviser said Begum Khaleda Zia was a three-time Prime Minister of the country, and a courageous, wise and uncompromising political leader.
He said that her contribution to the movement for democracy, multi-party political system and the establishment of people's rights in Bangladesh will remain memorable in history.
Mentioning that Begum Khaleda Zia was a shining symbol of firm leadership and protest in the movements against autocracy and fascism, Sakhawat said that her strong role in the long political struggle inspired the nation.
The nation will remember her contributions to the country and the people with eternal respect, he added.
The adviser said she made extraordinary contributions to the restoration of democracy and the development of multi-party politics in the country, and her farsighted leadership and unforgettable works will continue to motivate the nation.
He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members and relatives.
