DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) – Russia today expressed condolences over the death of former Bangladesh prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, recalling her role in maintaining cordial bilateral relations.

“The Embassy of Russia in Bangladesh was deeply saddened to learn about the demise of Bangladesh’s first female prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia,” the Embassy of Russia in Bangladesh said in a condolence message. 

It added, “Russia will remember her with gratitude for the cordial relations maintained with our country during her three tenures as the head of the Government.”

The embassy said, “We extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends and fellow party members.”
