BHOLA, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Shipping handed over a modern water ambulance to ensure emergency healthcare services for people living in coastal and remote char areas.
The initiative was taken under the guidance of Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hossain.
The water ambulance has been named "Shaheed Osman Hadi Water Ambulance" in memory of Sharif Osman Hadi, a fearless frontline fighter of the July Mass Uprising and spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha.
The adviser formally handed over the ambulance to the Monpura upazila administration at a ceremony held at Ramnewaz Launch Ghat in Monpura upazila today.
The water ambulance will facilitate patient transportation, emergency medical assistance and rapid healthcare services in river- and sea-surrounded remote areas.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr Sakhawat Hossain said the government is giving the highest priority to ensuring the fundamental rights of people in coastal and remote regions, particularly access to healthcare services.
He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Sharif Osman Hadi and expressed heartfelt sympathy to his bereaved family members.
Officials of the Ministry of Shipping and the Monpura upazila administration were present at the ceremony.
