DHAKA, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS) - University Teachers' Association of Bangladesh (UTAB) has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the sudden and untimely death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a strong voice of the student movement and spokesperson of the Inqilab Mancha.

UTAB President Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam and Secretary General Professor Dr Md Morshed Hasan Khan said in a condolence message today that Sharif Osman Hadi was a fearless youth and a talented organizer. 

They said that his active role and courageous leadership in the July Mass Uprising and the subsequent anti-fascist movement will remain eternally memorable in the hearts of the country's students and people. 

Hadi's sacrifice and dedication to building a just and discrimination-free society will remain a lifelong source of inspiration for the younger generation, they added.

They further said that recently Osman Hadi was shot in broad daylight in an apparent attempt to kill him. Although he survived that day by the grace of Allah, July fighter Osman Hadi eventually bade farewell to life on Thursday while undergoing treatment in Singapore after battling with death.

The UTAB leaders said Hadi's untimely demise is an irreparable loss for the country's democratic and social liberation movements. 

Yet, the attackers, who are followers of the ousted autocratic regime, are still at large, they said and demanded immediate arrest of the attackers and exemplary punishment for them.

On behalf of UTAB, they prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Sharif Osman Hadi and expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with his bereaved family. 

The leaders noted that in this time of national crisis, the absence of spirited youths like Sharif Osman Hadi is being felt with deep respect.
