KHULNA, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Medical Device Innovation Center of National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, to enhance international cooperation in medical technology and innovative 
research

The bilateral MoU signing ceremony was held on Thursday at the office of the Vice-Chancellor of KUET.

Vice-Chancellor of KUET professor Dr Md Maksud Helali was present as the chief guest at the event.

On behalf of KUET, the Registrar, Engineer Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan, and on behalf of National Cheng Kung University, the Director of the Medical Device 
Innovation Center, Professor Dr Feng-Chin Su, signed the agreement.

Through this agreement, joint research and development will be undertaken in cutting-edge fields such as therapeutic footwear (medical footwear), foot 
orthotics, human movement biomechanics, and smart wearable systems.

The agreement also includes faculty, researcher and student exchange programmes, joint scientific seminars and specialised training activities.

Speakers at the signing ceremony said the integration of KUET's Department of Leather Engineering's expertise in footwear and material science with NCKU's 
strengths in biomechanics and medical device development would open new avenues for innovation in medical equipment in Bangladesh.

They added that the collaboration is expected to play an important role in research on specialised footwear for diabetic patients and in the development 
of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
