DHAKA, Dec 14, 2025 (BSS) - The National Legal Aid Organization so far provided legal services to 1,92,702 people through the national helpline toll free call center (16430), official sources said here today.
This information was published in a report released on the Legal Aid website. The report highlighted detailed information on legal aid services provided through Legal Aid from 2009 to October 2025.
Initially, these legal services were introduced at the district level for disadvantaged and insolvent people. Subsequently, the services were expanded to include the Supreme Court, the toll-free 16430 call center, labor legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram and all the prisons across the country.
Recently, the toll-free number for this service has been changed and made it easier. The new toll-free number is 16699, the website added.
Legal Aid activities related to labor law assistance began in 2013. The national helpline call center with a toll-free number was launched in 2016. From then until October 2025, a total of 192,702 people received legal advisory services.
The report also mentioned that 17,328 people received legal advice before the establishment of the national helpline call center through hotline-based information services.
To ensure legal assistance for financially insolvent and incapable litigants, these services are provided at government expense under the Legal Aid Services Act.
The activities of the National Legal Aid Organization are being conducted under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
