BRUR hosts seminar marking centenary of Muslim Literary Society

RANGPUR, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - A seminar titled "Muslim Literary Society in the Centenary" was held today at the conference room of the Department of Bengali at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR).

The programme was organised by the 16th batch of the Department of Bengali, with class representative Meghnath Roy in the chair.

Bangla Academy Director General Professor Dr. Mohammad Azam attended the event as the chief guest, while BRUR Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali was present.

Ten students of the 16th batch presented papers focusing on the centenary of the Muslim Literary Society. They are Laboni Sarkar, Masud Rana, Sabikunnahar Toma, Azizul Hakim, Saidul Shakil, Golam Morshed Tami, Annannnya Sarkar, Abdul Malek, Prosenjit Roy, Rafi Ahmed, Marufa Mukta Mehaiminun Naba and Maksuratun Naima.

Lecturer Khairul Islam Palash delivered the welcome speech.

Among others, Head of the Department of Bengali Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Professor Dr. Tuhin Wadud, Assistant Professor Sirajam Munira and Lecturers Golam Rabbani and Monir Hossain addressed the seminar.

Students from the Department of Bengali and other departments said they were greatly benefited by participating in the research-based discussions. They added that organising similar seminars across departments would help broaden the academic knowledge of both teachers and students.
