DHAKA, Dec 5, 2025 (BSS) - The government today said that necessary processes are underway to address the longstanding demand of medical technologists and pharmacists for implementation of the 10th grade, urging them to withdraw their ongoing work abstention and immediately resume duties in the greater public interest.

For the past several days, medical technologists and pharmacists in government hospitals and health centres have been observing work abstention and other programmes, causing disruption to emergency healthcare services and 
resulting in immense suffering for patients. 

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has expressed regret to service seekers for the inconvenience caused, an official release said.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and the health ministry have already completed all required procedures in a positive manner and informed the concerned parties. 

The Ministry of Public Administration has also adopted a positive stance and is working sincerely to resolve the issue. As the demand concerns a longstanding matter, the government needs reasonable time to complete the 
process, the release added.

Representatives of the agitators were apprised of the progress during discussions with senior officials, and the talks ended positively. Despite this, the technologists and pharmacists continued their programmes, which the 
ministry termed as effectively holding patients hostage-something unacceptable for professionals engaged in essential healthcare delivery.

In view of the government's ongoing efforts, the Health Ministry called upon all medical technologists, pharmacists and concerned staff to immediately return to work. 

It warned that legal action would be taken if essential healthcare services continue to be disrupted in the name of protests, as such activities go against public interest.
