DHAKA, Dec 03, 2025 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana today urged information officers to motivate people through disseminating necessary information for ensuring their spontaneous participation in the upcoming general election.
“Election campaign must be pro-people to increase participation of voters in the parliamentary polls,” she said while addressing a meeting organized on the Zoom platform to provide guidelines on field-level election campaign for the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and referendum.
The meeting was organized with district information officers at the initiative of the Mass Communication Department.
Mass Communication Department Director General Md Abdul Jalil presided over the meeting where employees of 68 field offices of the department took part.
Mahbuba Farjana said the upcoming election is going to be a unique and unprecedented polls compared to all the past elections as per the instructions of the Chief Adviser.
She said the district information offices will play the main role of intensive publicity or public opinion formation in this election.
She directed the district information officers to start the election campaign from today.
The information secretary said that the national elections and referendum will be held on the same day for the first time in the history. Informing the people at the grassroots level up to the union or village level is a big challenge, she added.
She expected that the information officers to successfully face this challenge. the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs will work in coordination in the election campaign, she added.
In addition, she said, information officers will have to establish a connection with Bangla Fact under the leadership of PIB for rumor and fact checking and perform their duties.
She urged the information officers to work as an innovative team. At the same time, she instructed them to work in coordination with the district administration and election officer.
Abdul Jalil said that the Department of Mass Communication has 102 years of experience in campaign work. Keeping in view the upcoming elections, 34 songs have been prepared in coordination with the electoral code of conduct, he added.
He said these will be sung in regional languages and performed in specific areas. A demo of how to vote yes/no will be shown to the people in the village markets, he added.
He said the campaign is being made more modern and appealing to ensure people's participation in voting.
Additional Secretary Dr Mohammad Altaf-ul-Alam, Joint Secretary Mahfuza Akhtar, Directors of the Department of Mass Communication Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin and Syed A. Mu'men, among others, addressed the event.
