China for deeper cooperation on health innovation

DHAKA, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) — Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen today hoped Bangladesh and China will intensify cooperation to advance public health governance, spur medical technology innovation and jointly develop the health industry at a higher level, contributing more effectively to the “Health Silk Road.”

He made the remarks at the inauguration ceremony of the China–Bangladesh Joint Cardiovascular Disease Clinic, held at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Dhaka.

The ceremony was attended by Nurjahan Begum, Adviser to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ma Zuoxin, Deputy Director General of the Yunnan Foreign Affairs Office and Shi Jinyang, Deputy Director of Fuwai Yunnan Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, among others.

 Nurjahan Begum thanked China for its longstanding support in Bangladesh’s health sector. 

She described the joint clinic as an important example of friendly collaboration and expressed hope for deeper cooperation to benefit more people in both countries.

Ambassador Yao said the establishment of the first China–Bangladesh joint cardiovascular clinic represents “another significant achievement of mutual support” between the two countries in the health sector and signals a new stage in bilateral healthcare cooperation.

A medical team from Yunnan Fuwai Hospital has already arrived to begin work at the clinic.
