DHAKA, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) - IM Japan, the Public Interest Foundation International Manpower Development Organization, has assured that it would increase hiring of Bangladeshi workers from 2026.
The assurance came when Dr Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan, Senior Secretary of Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment, visited the headquarters of IM Japan in Tokyo and met the chief executive officer (CEO) of the company during his Japan tour from November 3 to 8, 2025.
During the meeting, the CEO of IM Japan assured the senior secretary to increase the number of manpower received from Bangladesh from 2026 and to recruit at least 300 workers from Bangladesh in 2026.
Later, Dr Bhuiyan visited a Japanese industrial goods manufacturing company where Bangladeshi workers have been working.
During the visit, the Japanese company also pledged to hire more Bangladeshis next year to make the senior secretary's visit memorable, according to an official document obtained by BSS.
In addition, Dr Bhuiyan met chairman of Japan's National Business Support Combined Cooperatives (NBCC) Mikio Kesagayama and some important figures from Japanese recruitment and investment agencies.
They assured that they would take steps on how to develop Bangladesh's human resources for recruitment in Japanese industries and how to work on potential areas of mutual benefit between Bangladesh and Japan in the healthcare and pharmaceuticals sectors.
Mikio Kesagayama has been actively involved in initiatives to recruit skilled workers from Bangladesh to address the labour shortage in Japan, particularly in sectors like construction, care giving and agriculture.
Earlier, on October 27, 2025, he led a 23-member NBCC delegation to Bangladesh to assess training facilities and meet government officials, including Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, to facilitate this recruitment process.
Under his leadership, the NBCC aims to bring over 100,000 Bangladeshi workers to Japan over a five-year period.
