DHAKA, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's treatment is continuing with the involvement of both local and foreign doctors, said party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He made the remark this morning while responding to questions from journalists at an event in the BNP Chairperson's Office in Gulshan, marking the joining of Dr Reza Kibria.

"Everyone knows, Madam (Khaleda Zia) is sick and our doctors are working tirelessly. All local and foreign doctors are involved in her treatment," said Fakhrul.

He added, "We always pray to Almighty Allah, on behalf of the entire nation, that Allah restores her health and brings her back to us."

Since last Sunday, the BNP Chairperson has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital. Following tests, doctors found an infection in her lungs, prompting the party to describe her condition as critical.

She has been receiving intensive care at the hospital's Critical Care Unit (CCU) since Thursday.

A medical board, led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukder, comprising both local and foreign doctors, is coordinating her treatment.

The board includes Tarique Rahman's wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, doctors from Johns Hopkins University in the United States, and specialists from London Clinic in the United Kingdom.

Her eldest son, Tarique Rahman, is maintaining constant communication with the medical board from London and coordinating with both local and foreign doctors.
