DHAKA, Nov 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Navy today successfully concluded its five-day 'Annual Sea Exercise 2025' with a live missile firing demonstration in the Bay of Bengal.

The comprehensive maritime exercise featured a large deployment of naval assets including frigates, corvettes, OPVs, minesweepers, patrol craft, missile boats, maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters and specialised naval force squads, said an ISPR press release here.

At the invitation of Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, advisers to the interim government from the Ministries of Home Affairs, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Water
Resources, and Housing and Public Works witnessed the final-day drills from BNS Khalid Bin Walid, a guided-missile frigate of the Bangladesh Navy.

Senior military and civilian officials were also present. The Bangladesh Air Force, Coast Guard, and other maritime agencies also participated directly or in support roles at the event.

Spread across multiple phases, the exercise covered a wide range of naval operations such as fleet manoeuvres, maritime surveillance, logistics operations, and coastal installation defence drills.

Highlights of the final day included missile firing from naval ships, shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile firing, anti-air rapid open firing, rocket depth charge firing, UAV operations, naval commando exercises, and helicopter visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (HVBSS) along with other naval warfare tactics.

The primary objectives of the Navy's annual exercise are to safeguard national sovereignty at sea, ensure protection of marine resources, maintain security along maritime routes, and strengthen capabilities for preventing
smuggling, combating piracy, conserving coastal biodiversity, and sustaining continuous maritime patrol.

Guests attending the closing ceremony congratulated all participating officers and sailors for the successful completion of the exercise and praised the Navy's professionalism, operational readiness, and dedication.

They also commended the Navy's expanding role in safeguarding the nation's maritime boundaries and contributing to the national economy.
