DHAKA, Nov 28, 2025 (BSS) - Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. A F M Khalid Hossain today urged people from all walks of life to refrain from excitement, misinterpretation or any provocative activities ahead of the upcoming national election.
He made the call while addressing the International Quran Recitation Conference 2025 as chief guest at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque this afternoon.
The event was organised by the International Quran Recitation Association (IQRA), with Islamic scholars from home and abroad, diplomats, and mission heads in attendance.
Dr. Khalid said the country does not want any disorder that could hinder the election process. No one will be allowed to create unrest by misinterpreting religion, he warned, adding that only genuine Islamic scholars hold the authority to interpret religious matters, and the state will not accept any distortion of religious teachings.
"We will not engage in any activities that could make the election questionable or obstruct the power transfer process. Everyone must act responsibly, and every step must be taken with caution," he stressed.
Highlighting Bangladesh's strong position in Quranic education, he noted that Bangladeshi Hafez and Qari continue to earn international acclaim at global Hifzul Quran competitions. He credited the Islamic Foundation's Dini Dawat Department for its rigorous selection process that enables the country to achieve repeated success.
Dr. Khalid also assured that government initiatives to enhance facilities for Hafez, Qari, Imams, and Muazzins will continue.
Cabinet Division Joint Secretary Tanvir Ahmed attended the event as special guest, while IQRA President Sheikh Qari Ahmad Bin Yusuf Al-Azhari chaired the conference. Special Branch DIG Ezaj Ahmed and Islamic Foundation Director Harunur Rashid were also present.
