417 new sailors commissioned in Navy

DHAKA, Nov 24, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Navy has formally inducted 417 new sailors following the completion of their 22-week bootcamp training. 

A vibrant graduation parade of the newly sailors (B/2025 batch) was held today at the BNS Sher-e-Bangla Parade Ground in Patuakhali.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan inspected the parade as the chief guest and took the salute, according to a press release of the ISPR.

During the ceremony, Admiral Hassan awarded the top performers of the batch. 

Rizan Molya received the prestigious ‘Navy Chief's Award’ for securing first place in all professional and all subjects. Md. Maruf Hasan Munna and Md. Hasan Ali achieved second and third positions respectively, earning the ‘Sher-e-Bangla Padak’.

In his address, the Navy Chief paid tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters, naval commandos of the Liberation War, and the martyrs of the July–August anti-discrimination movement. 

He emphasized the growing importance of the Navy in safeguarding national sovereignty, maritime security, and economic interests, urging the newly inducted sailors to become highly skilled and dedicated members of a modern, technologically advanced, three-dimensional naval force.

Admiral Hassan commended the recruits for choosing the noble profession of serving the nation and expressed hope that they would play a vital role in protecting Bangladesh’s vast maritime territory and contributing to the nation’s future development.

The event was attended by senior Navy officials, military and civilian dignitaries, local representatives from Patuakhali, Barishal, and Khulna, as well as families of the graduating sailors.
