‘Accurate land services largely depend on surveyors’

DHAKA, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS) - Senior Secretary of the Land Ministry ASM Saleh Ahmed today said accurate land services largely depend on surveyors. 

“How advanced a country's land management is and how fast and accurate land services citizens receive largely depends on the professional skills, honesty and sense of responsibility of surveyors. Their contribution in establishing modern and people-friendly land services is immense,” he said.

He made the comments at a training programme for newly-joined surveyors at the Land Administration Training Center (LATC) in the capital. 

The programmme was moderated by Deputy Director (Training) and Deputy Secretary Rumana Rahman Shampa.

The Land Secretary said that surveyors play an important role in determining land boundaries, preparing maps, correcting records, confirming ownership and resolving land disputes. 

Stating that the technological skills of surveyors are very necessary to bring land services to the doorsteps of the people in the digital age, Saleh Ahmed said that it is possible to make land surveying fast, accurate and transparent using technologies like drone survey, GIS, GPS, digital maps. 

He said that all the appointments made during the tenure of the current government have been made on the basis of merit and competence. Meritorious manpower generally believes in the values of responsibility, morality, professionalism and good governance, he added. 

Deputy Director of the Land Administration Training Center (LATC) Khan A Sabur Khan delivered the welcome speech at the event with LATC Director Mohammad Abul Khair chair it.
