DHAKA, Nov 23, 2025 (BSS)- In the wake of the post-earthquake emergency, classes and examinations at Jagannath University (JnU) have been suspended from tomorrow and the university administration has decided to conduct online classes from November 30.
The decision has been taken in a meeting held today with university Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Rezaul Karim in the chair.
The meeting decided to suspend classes and examinations and conduct online classes.
University Treasurer Professor Dr Sabina Sharmin, deans of all faculties, directors of all institutes, registrar, chairmen of all departments, general secretary of the Teachers' Association, chief election commissioner of JnUCSU and proctor were present in the meeting.
Considering the physical and mental condition of the students in the recent earthquake, their overall safety was given top priority in the meeting.
In order to assess the risk and conduct further activities and to review the overall campus situation, it has been decided to suspend all classes and examinations of the university until November 27.
At the same time, it has been decided to instruct students to vacate the university's only residential hall, Nawab Faizunnesa Chowdhurani Hall, by 10 am tomorrow.
It was also decided that the university's educational activities will be conducted on the online platform from November 30, 2025 (Sunday) to December 4, 2025 (Thursday).
A committee including BUET experts has been formed in the meeting, convened by the Dean of the Faculty of Life and Earth Sciences of the university, which will inspect and evaluate various buildings after the earthquake and submit a report by December 3, 2025 (Wednesday).
After considering the report and the overall situation, a meeting will be held again on December 4 to determine the next steps.
During the mentioned period, the university's central library and student transportation will be closed. But the offices will be opened as usual.
It is to be noted that the JnUCSU Election Commission will take necessary measures regarding the election activities.
