DHAKA, Nov 22, 2025 (BSS) - Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has urged the media to play a stronger role in advancing democracy through constructive criticism.

"Society cannot progress if it remains confined to doubt and negativity. Real social change requires positivity and trust. The media must step forward with constructive criticism to help strengthen democracy," she said.

Rizwana made the remarks while addressing a discussion at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Kakrail, held to mark the 10th anniversary of Dainik Bangladesh Shomachar. She attended the event as the chief guest.

Referring to the country's transformation following the 2024 July Uprising, she said people now aspire to a Bangladesh free from discrimination. Meaningful change, she added, begins with personal transformation -- in thought, intellect and action.

The programme was chaired by Dainik Bangladesh Shomachar Editor Dr. Khan Asaduzzaman. Silver Line Group Managing Director M. H. Selim and Sea Shell Group Managing Director Md. Aman Ullah also spoke on the occasion.
