DHAKA, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS): Religious affairs Adviser Dr A F M Khalid Hossain today said that the Alems must come forward to take the responsibilities of the state.
“So far the Alems are not getting involved in running the state, peace and happiness cannot be prevailed in the country,” he said.
The adviser said this while addressing the annual gathering and dastarbandi ceremony at Al-Jamiahtul Ahlia Darul Uloom Muinul Islam Madrasa at Hathajari upazila in Chattogram district as chief guest.
The Religious Adviser said that Alems must be proactive in increasing public engagement. There must be a relationship between the ulama-mashayekh and the people, he said adding that they must look after the people and stay informed about their conditions.
He also urged the Alems to come forward to reform the existing state structure.
Highlighting the importance of self-purification, Dr. Khalid said, “Each of us has faults, we do not see our own faults, rather, we search for the faults of others. If I show respect to someone, I will get respect in return, but if I dishonor someone, Allah will dishonor me.”
Dr. Khalid further said, “Life is short, humans do not live long, time runs out before we realize it, power, money, wealth-none of these are permanent.
There was a time in this country when people were executed under the orders of certain individuals but today those people have been facing execution under the orders of others, he said adding that therefore, we must always remember Allah and never incur His displeasure.”
Highlighting the importance of serving one’s teachers, the Adviser said that a person’s life becomes enlightened through the blessings of being in the company of respected scholars. One can acquire good moral qualities in this way, he said emphasizing on maintaining good relations with the ulama and seeking their blessings.
Presided over by the Madrasa’s Director General Allama Mufti Khalil Ahmad Qasemi, it was addressed among others by Allama Muhibbullah Babunagari, Allama Nurul Islam Walipuri and the madrasa’s education secretary Allama Mufti Kifayatullah.
It may be mentioned that during this two-day annual gathering, nearly 3,000 scholars who completed their Dawra-e-Hadith studies in the 1445–46 Hijri academic year will be honored with ceremonial turbans.
