DHAKA, Nov 20, 2025 (BSS) - The 34th International and 27th National Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025 will be celebrated nationwide on December 3, under the initiative of the National Disability Development Foundation of the Ministry of Social Welfare.
This year’s theme, announced by the United Nations, is ‘Fostering disability inclusive for advancing social progress, said a release this evening.
This day focuses on promoting an understanding of disability issues, increasing awareness, and advocating for the rights of people with disabilities
Adviser to the ministries of Social Welfare, and Women and Children Affairs Sharmin S Murshid will inaugurate the day-long event on the National Disability Development Foundation campus in Mirpur-14 at 9:30 am on the day.
As part of the day’s programmes, awards will be given in five categories among 10 successful ‘specially abled people’, three people working to overcome physically challenges, three organizations working to overcome disability, two successful parents of ‘specially abled people’ and two successful caregivers.
A fair will be organized on the occasion at the National Disability Development Foundation. Various products produced by specially abled people will be put on display in the fair.
Starting at 9 am the exhibition will continue till 5 pm without break.
In the fair, the creativity of traditional golden scales contemporary designs and the works of various crafts in Bangladesh’s rural life will be highlighted in a new way, the release added.
