DHAKA, Nov 16, 2025(BSS) - Primary and Mass Education Adviser Prof Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder today said the Pabna Mental Hospital would be converted into an international standard modern psychiatric institute for the development of the mental health in the country.

"Developed communication system and an international standard new mental hospital to be built in Pabna by utilizing the infrastructure of Pabna Mental Hospital," he said while addressing a award giving ceremony and reception organized by Bangladesh Association of Psychiatrics (BAP) at a hotel here.

The expansion of psychiatric education, research and its services have been insufficient at the National Institute of Mental Health, Dhaka for long time due to the shortage of accommodation, he said.

The adviser said that the committed researchers in the psychiatry sector should be awarded so that they can contribute enough to the sector in future. 

Expressing his gratitude to the psychiatrics Dr Bidhan urged them all to work together with professionalism and devotion.

Among others, Prof Dr Hedayetul Islam, Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim, Prof Dr Abdul Wahab Mina and Dr Rawshan Ara Begum addressed the function.
