DHAKA, 14 Nov, 2025 (BSS) - A two-day workshop titled 'Art for Equality' has begun at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University (DU) today.
The Department of History of Art organized the workshop with participation from students and artists of nine public and private universities.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Sayema Haque Bidisha inaugurated the workshop as chief guest.
Associate Professor Debasish Pal of the Department of Ceramics, Honorary Prof. Md. Abdus Sattar of the Department of Oriental Art, Acting Dean of Fine Arts faculty Prof. A A M Kawser Hasan and Plan International Bangladesh's Director of Influencing, Campaigns and Communications Nishat Sultana attended the inauguration session as special guests.
Chairman of the Department of History of Art and curator of the workshop Dr. Sheikh Monir Uddin presided over the event.
Assistant Professor Sanjoy Kumar Dey presented the objectives and structure of the event.
In her remarks, Prof. Bidisha encouraged participants to engage in mutual exchange of ideas and contribute to building an equitable society.
The two-day workshop will continue until Saturday evening.
The workshop is part of the four-year 'Youth for Equality' project funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands and jointly implemented by Plan International Bangladesh and JAAGO Foundation Trust.
90 participants from Dhaka University, Jagannath University, Jahangirnagar University, Khulna University, Rajshahi University, Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, Dhaka Art College, Narayanganj Fine Art Institute, and Jashore SM Sultan Art College are representing their institutes at the workshop.
