DMP warns against fake video of commissioner circulating on social media

DHAKA, Nov 13, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a strong warning against a fake and misleading video circulating on social media platforms, allegedly featuring DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sazzat Ali.

According to the DMP statement, a defeated faction has created and spread the fabricated reel by adding an artificial voice to a fragmented video of the Commissioner, which was shared from a Facebook page named 71.

The DMP urged citizens not to be misled by such systematically produced and manipulated content designed to spread misinformation.

The police emphasized that these actions are part of a deliberate attempt to confuse the public and undermine confidence in law enforcement.

The warning comes amid DMP’s ongoing strict measures against individuals involved in recent acts of violence, including setting vehicles on fire and exploding cocktails in different parts of the capital under the guise of protests.

“The evil faction is spreading such distorted videos in a despicable attempt to create unnecessary confusion regarding the police’s efforts to ensure public safety and maintain law and order,” the statement said.

The DMP further announced that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for creating or sharing such fabricated and misleading content.

The citizens have been urged to verify the authenticity of any videos, images, or information on social media before sharing them on social media.
